The BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) has single-handedly changed my life for the absolute better. I found out I was deaf in my left ear in 2004, and at that time there wasn't much anyone could do about it. Then a few years later, my parents and I went to House Ear Institute and found out about the BAHA.

Campaign: "65 Faces"

The 65 Faces Campaign is the House Ear Institute's (now House Reseach Institute) answer to the challenges related to our world that is growing noiser through entertainment, new drugs, and diseases related to hearing loss. It promises to provide critical support for our enterprise - support that will secure our mission through infrastructure and endowment, expand our potentioal with innovative technologies, and empower our future with the capacity to recruit world-class scientific investigators.

Why 65?
The 65 Faces Campaign reflects the 65 years that House Ear Institute has engaged in helping people enjoy a better quality of life through improved hearing. Whether correcting hearing problems, augmenting hearing when problems can’t be fixed, or educating people on how to avoid these problems, the Institute has been at the forefront of discovery and innovation. 65 Faces also represents the vast number of stories of patients, physicians, scientists and donors who have played a major role in our extraordinary effort to improve hearing during these years. $65 million is the goal of our multi-year campaign.
A Name Change
The 65 Faces Campaign begins with a name change to House Research Institute. While hearing still is the major focus of our mission and the area of our expertise, we are finding that more and more often, correcting hearing dysfunction goes well beyond the ear itself and that some of our most innovative work has applications and potential for collaboration in other areas of medicine. A change to Research in our name better describes the evolving scope of what we do.
Future of Research
Maintaining vision and momentum are more important today that at any time in our history. We are challenged as we move forward in this increasingly noisy world of entertainment options, where more of us experience diminished hearing as our life spans increase, and drugs that save lives come with the added risk of side effects that include deafness. The 65 Faces Campaign promises to provide crucial support to meet these challenges - support that will secure our mission, expand our potential with innovative technologies, and empower our future with the capacity to recruit world-class scientific investigators.
Research Areas We are Targeting
Neural tumors, balance disorders such as Meniere's disease, ototoxicity and sensorineural degeneration, regeneration of sensory cells, genetic hearing loss, language disorders and the brain, hearing rehabilitation for people of all ages.
